For some bloggers, time is a major issue, and it seems that there is never enough of it in a day to get everything done - including blogging regularly.
One thing to keep in mind - blogs do not have to be updated every day, but, if you notice on most of the the successful blogs (the ones that have thousands of readers and make thousands of dollars), you’ll see that they post new articles anywhere from 1- 5 times a day (or more in some cases). So obviously, one could argue that the more you post (assuming it’s helpful or intriguing content), the more successful your blog will turn out. That’s not to say that only successful blogs do that, because there are well known blogs that only update once or every other day, but they’re not as common.
At some point in time, some time strapped blogger must have thought “how the heck can I keep regular content flowing with my limited time schedule - AHA! I’ll hire someone to write for me!”. Back then, finding writers wasn’t nearly as easy as it is now, and it was probably a lot more expensive.
Soon enough that changed, and now there are dozens of good places you can go to find people to write for you, whether it be blog posts, articles, sales copy, or whatever.
Below are five places you can troll around in right now to find writers for your blog. Generally speaking, you can find decent writers for pretty cheap, but if you find an exceptional writer, you should always pay them a little extra to show your appreciation.
Five Places To Find Writers:
1. Digital Point Forums - At the DP forums, there is a very active marketplace that is always buzzing with anything you need for your website or blog - writers included. I’ve hired plenty of writers from here before, and I’ve been hired as writer through there, and I must say, while there are plentiful opportunities, don’t get your hopes up on scoring big on the first one you find. There are a lot of “Kontent Writrz” types, and you can usually spot them right away by looking at their insanely cheap rates. If you’re just looking for filler content, then it’s not bad, but if you want high quality blog posts, then you’ll need to find someone who’s not afraid to charge a bit for what they do. Overall, it’s probably my top hunting ground for finding talented writers, but sometimes it takes a little extra time.
2. Sitepoint Marketplace - Sitepoint has a “marketplace” where you can find anything from mega huge websites for sale, to, you guessed it - writers. I’ve hired writers from Sitepoint before with pretty average success. It’s worth checking out, because you never know who’s looking for a gig. Prices are reasonable in most cases.
3. Elance.Com - Elance is a very well known site for hiring any type of freelancer you could possibly imagine. If you’re really looking for steady writers, this is definitely a good place to check. Keep in mind, that a good portion of people that advertise on here charge more than what you’d usually find in a forum, but most times it’s worth it. It’s always good to work up some sort of contract, for instance, you want to hire someone that will write four posts a week for the next 3 months, at x dollars per post.
4. Problogger Job Board - This one is really interesting. Reason I say that is because the Problogger job board is so well known, that you’ll often see huge media outlets and companies looking for full time bloggers on there. Don’t worry though, you don’t have to be a big dog to advertise on the Problogger job board, just $50 for a 30 day listing will do the trick. I’ve landed many blogging jobs from there in the past, that all ended up looking great on my Resume. I have several blogging colleagues that have hired bloggers off of there with great success, so it’s definitely worth the money if you’re serious about hiring a full or part-time blogger.
5. WarriorForums - While it may not be the first place to go looking for bloggers, it’s definitely one I check on a regular basis. WarriorForums is as old as my internet career, and they regular attract all sorts of aspiring people - mostly in the content creation/copywriting field. Sign up (for free of course), and make a post in the copywriting section with your intentions of hiring a writer. You’ll definitely get a response, but always do your research just like anywhere else.
So there’s five places you can go to look for writers, and if you can’t find a writer from one of those, then you’re on your own! Seriously though, always mention how much your budget is, and be as honest and upfront as you can - it really will pay off.
