Are You using good “headlines” to improve your search engine ranking?

June 19, 2008
A web based article, with a powerful written targeted headline, will not only improve your search engine ranking for your target keyword phrases but will also attract the right kind of visitor from the search engines. The headlines of your content page must have the ability to attract your visitors. The tips are as follows:
1. Ask questions :

Your written headline must be question oriented. In other words, your headline must be in the form of a question so that readers are forced to ask themselves something. You are making a statement which a person will not be able to forget immediately. The reason why I am saying this is because if your headline is in a question form, then it means that you are forcing readers to think. Write several examples of question based headlines for your target audience. For example: 1) Are you tired of your office routine work schedule? 2) Do you want to give more time for your family? The above two questions focus the problem, in front of the target audience. You generally make a headline, even more powerful when a problem is posed in front of the target audience rather than giving the solution.

2. Bringing curiousness :

You must add a curiosity factor to your headline. This will get the reader hooked into reading about your offer. Using numbers for explanation is also considered as a powerful medium for convincing a person. You can use numbers to imply more than one reason to read on. For example, you can apply the following sample headlines which are as follows:

1.  Want to know 3 simple ways to earn free home base income?

2.  Want to know the two free valuable gifts that you get on joining the home base income program?

You can apply the above mentioned methods to write powerful, targeted headlines. You will then not only be able to improve your search engine ranking but will be able to attract the right kind of visitors from the search engines too.

  1. Offering a solution to the problem:

Now, you can then offer a solution to the problem that you have just mentioned before. For example:

1. You can earn home based income and make time for your family and for yourself too.

2.  You can visit my website which will teach you steps of earning home based income.

The above two examples are for headlines which provide solutions to the present money making issue.

Your headlines should be good enough to be able to identify the topic for the content. Also your main content must also be equally good. There are people who play more attention to the content of the written matter. However, when it comes to the headlines, they may not give more importance. You must never forget that headlines are also equally important.

Are You Getting Incoming Links?

June 14, 2008

Getting incoming links to your website is the most important part of search engine optimization. There are a three ways to accomplish this, you can do it yourself, you can pay someone to do it or you can join some type of three way link exchange. However, you decide to do it, make sure that it gets done. This is because without strong, one-way links, your website or blog will likely never be seen in the search engines. Sure, you can use paid traffic generation methods, but if your blog is not producing any revenue, you will have to switch tactics. It is generally better to get a mix of both paid and free traffic. That way, if your search engine rankings fall or if paid advertising gets too expensive, you’re still in business. Below are some great methods to getting one-way links to your website or blog.

Article Directories: Article directories are a great place to pick up back links. Another advantage is that they can get you some free traffic as well. Submitting an original article to Ezinearticles with a little optimization and some back links can get you high rankings in the search engines for keywords that aren’t too competitive.

Forums: Adding your link and keyword to high ranking and PR forums can add to your incoming links.

Classified Sites: Classified sites like Craigslist and Backpage are great for building up your link counts.

Social Network Sites: Social networking sites are really hot right now. Find a list of the top 30 and then submit your site to them, or pay someone else to do it.

Blog Comments: This used to be really popular. So popular, that blogging platforms such as Blogger made major changes to discourage it. However, it can still be useful. Type in your keyword and whatever blogging platform that you want to post to and you should be able to create a huge list of blogs where you can leave comments and gain incoming links.

Free Download Sites: Free download sites allow individuals to submit files for others to download. Create a file or a cheap piece of software with your website’s link in it and submit it to free download sites.

Give Away Free Articles: Offer webmasters free, original content that they can place on their websites with a link to your website attached. Webmasters love free and original content and may agree to your offer.

Google Groups: Google and Yahoo Groups are a great way to get back links. Simply write an informative post and include a link, hyperlinked with a keyword back to your website.

How can I Increase Ranking and Website Traffic?

June 10, 2008

Here are few simple ways to increase website traffic and search engine rankings.

First Create a site with valuable content, products or services.

Place Your most important keywords within the first 25 words in your page content and spread them evenly throughout your site.

Next do the research and use the right keywords/phrases to attract your target customers.

Place your keywords in the right fields and references within your web page. Like Title, META tags, Headers, etc.

Important, Keep your website site design simple so that your customers can navigate easily between web pages, find what they want and buy products and services. Too Many websites have too much information like too many banners, bad colors, music etc. Personally for me if I go to a website and music starts to play, I immediately Leave.

Submit your web pages and not just the home page, to the most popular search engines and directory services.  You Can also hire someone to do so, if required. Use a manual submission. Try not to use an automated submission service.

Keep track of changes in search engine  and  modify your web pages so your search engine ranking remains high. You can use online tools and utilities to keep track of how your website is doing.

Monitor your competitors and the top ranked websites to see what they are doing right in the way of design, navigation, content, keywords, etc. But please do not try and copy them, be unique.

Analyze your traffic see where your traffic is coming from. It is  important to know how visitors are finding you.  i.e. Google Analytics

Make your customer visit worthwhile and give them plenty of ways to remember you in the form of newsletters, free reports, contests, etc.

Write and submit articles for your website so you are perceived as an expert in your field.

If you are selling products online, use simple payment and shipment methods to make your customer’s experience fast and easy. i.e. Paypal

If you need help, hire professionals. It might  cost you, but it might be lot less expensive than spending your money on a website which no one visits.

Don’t look at your website as a brochure. Take care of it, continue to update and treat it as a dynamic, ever-changing sales tool and location, just like a real store. Your customers will love it and keep coming back.

The Fast Track To Getting Your Blog Indexed In Google

May 6, 2008

Now, a lot of you may already have your own ways to get indexed in Google fast, but I’m sure there are new bloggers who may be attempting to set up their first self-hosted blogs that need to know the inside track to getting indexed within a day or two in Google.

Yes, it’s possible!

Honestly, getting indexed within a day or two with a new blog is more common than not – sometimes you don’t even have to try. Having said that, I always like to run through the basic routine anyway, just to be on the safe side.

For those that don’t know, let me first tell you why you more than likely will get indexed quick without doing any special routines. First of all, Google loves most, if not all major blogging platforms. Whether you run a self hosted Wordpress blog, a Blogger blog, or a Wordpress.Com blog – Google loves them all (especially Blogger, due to the fact they they own them now). The simple act of posting an article or two a lot of the time is enough to get indexed without thinking about it. Shouldn’t take more than a week tops.

But if you’re looking to skip ahead in line, and jump into Google within 24-48 hours, here are a few tricks that I use that are always successful:

1. Technorati – Get signed up with Technorati, and “claim” your blog as soon as you can. This only takes a few minutes, and is worth it for many reasons. But for reasons above, when your blog is claimed and all set up, make sure to use the “ping” service in your Technorati account after each post you write.

2. MyBlogLog - Adding your blog to your MBL account has often done the trick for me alone, but I combine this with the other steps for maximum exposure. It’s easy to claim your blog – only takes a minute or two of work.

3. Pingomatic – This is a very cool blog pinging service that you should hit up right after you post an article on your new blog. Just go to the site, input your URL, and ping all available services. Spiders from these services will come to your blog pretty quickly, and when they index your site, Google will index them not too long after, which will hopefully help out your cause.

4. Digg + Pingomatic – This little trick has always seemed to work well for me too. When you have a new blog, and after you submit your first post – submit it to Digg, and then get the Digg URL that was assigned to your submission, take that URL and input it at Pingomatic and ping it. Don’t ask me why, but it works!

5. Utilize existing blogs or sites – This is often the easiest and most overlooked way to get your new blog indexed quickly. Do you have an established website or blog that Google crawls often? If so, then just write a new post or add some content with a link or two to your new blog, and that will definitely speed up the process. Using your existing website leverage is my favorite method, and it’s all too easy.

6. Refer to my post about getting traffic to your blog, and use the methods I talk about. It works. Reason being, the more instances of your new blog URL being on sites that get crawled every couple of minutes, the more likely your new Blog will get indexed sooner rather than later. When Google sees your link on all of these powerful sites, it will have no choice but to go crawl your blog, and index it quickly.

That’s really all there is to it! I know it sounds basic, but hopefully, if you didn’t already know these methods it will come in handy for you. I also use the methods above for getting static websites indexed quickly too, which we all know can be a pain in the butt sometimes. I used to work with clients that had sites for months without being indexed, and when I would tell them I would have their site indexed within a few days, they never believed me until the proof was undeniable. It made for some happy clients!
