There is never a website without content. Content refers to the text body of the website. A user will not visit your website unless the content in the website is relevant, technical, well articulated and well presented. Doing that always is not easy. You may have the best ideas and technical expertise, but to put that down in words that is easily understandable for the readers and the users may often become a challenge.

Consider this: You are a great cook and you know the right tips to make your pasta different from your neighbor’s. You want to earn something by sharing your knowledge with others. With Internet revolution, you also want to make the most out of it and wish to start a blog on cooking. But if you do not present your recipe in a way that is easily relatable for the readers, if you do not jazz it up with some relevant photographs, then probably you will not generate as much traffic as you thought you would be.

Or may be you have been in the plumbing business for a long time and now want to share your knowledge with those who want to excel in this field. Teaching some one something online is not an easy job and requires good and intuitive content to keep the reader engaged.

Or may be you simply do not have the time to invest in writing the content for your website. Many companies also employ people who work from their homes to create content for websites as per requirement. They are skilled writers and write on topics as required by the website or the blog owner.

If you have some talent in writing and you enjoy learning new things then online content writing can also be chosen as an online business opportunity. You will more or less work at your own pace and from your home as long as you have an internet connection. People get paid in the range of $8.00 - $12.00 for each 500 word articles. As a content writer you can also propose layout suggestions to your client in order to optimize the effectiveness of their websites.

As a content writer, however, it is important that you do not plagiarize. You must never copy content from other websites or books. This will lead to copyright infringement and is a punishable offense by law. Most content writing assignments do not give writing credits and are referred to as ‘ghostwriting’.

Once you create a base of trusted clients who like your work and you enjoy working with them, then online content writing can generate good income as a side business. Once you create a name of your own and have made contacts you can even host articles and features in your website and sell those to prospective buyers. This way you can start of your own business – all from the comfort of your home.

So what are you waiting for? If you have the skills – then get going – do something fun as writing and earn some money from it!
