Commenting on Blogs the Easy Way
by ClubBlogger on Friday, November 21st, 2008 | 31 Comments
If you are a blog owner the one thing that you want to see is lots of comments on your blog. Comments let you know readers like what you have written and want to share their thoughts. It’s a way of showing how popular your blog is. Some will become subscribers and some wont, but a high subscriber number does not necessarily mean that you will get hundreds (or thousands in some of the most popular blogs) of comments every time you write a new post.
Most comments will come from readers who are not subscribed to your feed. They will most likely come from the blog owners who posts you commented on. I myself try and (99.9 percent of the time I do) if someone leave a comment on my blog, I visit them and return the favor. The only time I don’t leave a comment is if their blog is no way familiar to what I’m blogging about. For example If they left a comment and I go visit and find out their blog is about cars, video games etc, I wont leave one because that is not in my niche.
One of the easy methods I use to leave comments is this:
When I visit a blog to leave a comment, I look at all the other readers who was there before me and left a comment.
I then go down the line to check out their last post or click on their gravator to visit their site.
If it is a site that has updated posts and I like it, I leave a comment. I then repeat this process on other blogs.
Depending on the time I have and if my eyes don’t start hurting me too bad
, I can do a lot of comments in a short period
of time.
The other method I use is I visit this link I bookmarked a while back.
I go down the line and visit and if they have been keeping up their blog and have content that I can relate to, I leave a comment.
If anyone has a list similar to this let me know so I can add it to my bookmarks.
The old saying works in this concept “You have to give to receive”
My post Successfully Marketing Your Blog: An Overview had some good comments on how you should comment on other blogs.
Try and leave useful meaning comments and try to avoid the one-liners.

This is what I did most of the time as well Larry. Visiting the blog of my commentator and dropping a comment if I know what the article is talking about becomes more of a routine to me.
And blog commenting is indeed one of the easiest way to build traffic, subscribers and backlinks. Let's do more commenting from today onwards =)

Thanks Wei, Commenting is one of the best ways to get traffic. I try and do as much as I can everyday. I am with you Buddy!
It's all about networking at the end of the day. As you get known by other bloggers, there's more of a chance they'll link to you, and even if they don't some of those comments will get read by their readers, and you may end up with a bit of extra traffic. Each comment on its own doesn't make all that much difference, but the cumulative effect can be significant.

Thanks Rodney. I look at commenting as a way of networking. The extra traffic I get from commenting on other blogs helps a little.
A pretty cool strategy you have there Larry. I'm curious though; why those particular 52 blogs…hoping to get noticed and asked to guest post?

I do the same as you, which is easy to do when a blog has CommentLuv (like you do). However, sometimes your mind gets goofy because you might run into a bunch of blogs that have it. At that point, sometimes I decide to see if a blog has more than one pretty good post, then I'll subscribe to it. Like this one!

I agree, there has been to many times that I might visit a site and it has nothing to do with what i am in to, so if I leave a comment I really don't think they will come visit. I would hope..

Commenting is just a way to interact with the blogger himself or herself, so it doesn't really matter which topic it is.

Blog commenting really brings in the backlinks and traffic as my experiment on blog commenting showed. But that's a good strategy you just shared. Thanks.

Larry,
What's your thoughts on a twitter discussion vs. blog post comments? I've followed some people's blogs that will have their readers tweet a story they enjoy which in fact is another way to say "I like this post."
What's your personal experience and the results you've received from this?

Good post, I try to comment on every blog post I find useful, typically doing a couple dozen comments a day.

I usually try to comment a few times whenever I hit a new blog. It's tough writing a blog and feeling like no ones reads it so commenting is kind of a way to give back.
It is much easier to comment on a blog if it is apparent there is a following on the blog. Many comments on each post at least shows there is some popularity with the site and it's topic. My first time here but I can see that it is worth a entry in my reader. I am sure to be back.
